Lori Lafargue is a creative woman with an enormous passion for photography, a zest for life and a penchant for laughter. An eye for unique angles, the bold, beautiful colors of nature leads her to the local flora, fauna, and feathers of Southeastern New England, Cape Cod, and beyond.

”I love to create natural images that show the beauty that is all around us. Look up, look down...look with your heart & soul, not just your eyes, and no matter where you are you will see something beautiful. Let me tell you a little story of why this means so much to me...Years ago I challenged myself to find something pretty in the most awful of places I knew. In the darkest, ugliest, coldest spot I could find, I stood with my camera and eyes shut. Opening them, I took a deep breath and looked with my heart and then my soul until I saw the tiniest purple flower in the dirt amid cigarette butts.

It was like a ray of sunshine! I was so happy to see it, I shouted out loud. I heard rustling behind me and turned to see a figure in the distance. As I slowly walked toward them I couldn’t help notice how thin, frail, and sickly she looked. I said hello, outstretched my hand, and kneeled to her level. She reached for my hand and smiled. It was the most beautiful, mostly toothless, goofy, and grateful smile I’ve ever seen in my life. We both giggled, and I snapped her photo. Others may have found her disgusting and walked by, but she touched something inside me that day, and I learned a lesson I shall never forget. So, look with your eyes, but also your heart & soul and an open mind, and I promise you will always find something or someone exquisitely beautiful.” This is my legacy.

Many of Lori's images have won local and international contests and acclaim. She is a former member of the South Shore Camera Club in Quincy, MA, one of the oldest and largest clubs in New England. She relocated to Dennis Port in 2020 to be with her fiance, Dave, who works locally. She is an active member of the Cape Cod Arts Center Camera Club in Barnstable, & The Cape Cod Viewfinders Club in Harwich and the Dennis-Yarmouth Newcomers organization. She is loving the Cape Cod Life!
